How do you pick up women at a coffeehouse or bookstore?

What are the best techniques to use? How is it different than the bar/club? What are some signals to look for to know if she is approachable? Any advice?

I am early 20’s, out of college, some extra baggage, 5′11", dress neat, no glasses (if the detail helps)

If at a bookstore and she is reading maybe simply walk up to her and start talking about the book she is reading..

Or at a coffehouse just look at anything she has with her and start to talk about that

Chances are if she takes those things everywhere she is interested in them or always thinking about them and will know what to say about them

    Just remember..

    Confidence
Be calm, not jumpy and stuff
And not too forward just casual

The key is conversation. Don’t worry about "picking up women". I’d be impressed with a guy who could make me laugh and offers to buy me a cup of coffee. But, I’d only date a guy who held doors open for me and treated me like a lady, though. So, keep those things in mind. Good luck, stud!

The bar/club is a place you to go get rowdy, met people, have fun.
A coffee place or bookstore can bring a different type of people. And when they are there they are in a different mood and setting then in a bar.
At the bookstore if you think shes okay with being bothered ask her what shes reading. or what shes looking for. You not sure what kind of book you want. What does she personally recommend.
Introduce yourself, try to keep the convo going. Ask her to accompany you to coffee, or ask for her number.

Act intelligently. Talk to her about her interests.

Look at what book she is reading, if you have read the book comment on it. Make a joke, you know flirt.

Coffee houses, same. Ask if she has tried a drink or something to that extent. Or suggest a drink
