why do women talk constantly in public places?

i ride on the subway every day at rush hour. every day you spot two women or more talking and they do not stop. sometimes they talk over each other. the commute averages about 40 minutes and most times the women do not stop for a minute. is this some sort of defense mechanism?

    talk!! we solve our problems
    that way, we make ourselves
    feel better, and we let our
    stories out. perhaps join in
    the conversation they are having
    instead of staring at them like
    they are non stop talking robots lol

    I catch the train to work with my friend. We talk because it’s enjoyable, and it’s better than sitting there on the train for 50 minutes staring stupidly into space and being bored. It’s called ‘keeping each other company’. What do men do when they get together? Sit there and stare at each other silently? What exactly is the point in having friends if you don’t talk to them?

    well maybe they are trying to get attention if you notice them. i think they do that so they can be wrapped up in what they are talking about so they wont feel uncomfortable or out of place after all it is a subway.

    We’re good communicaters unlike most men.

    There is a reason men die sooner, they won’t say anything even if they’re having a heart attack. Many more men commit suicide because they refuse to tell people …even a Dr. that they’re depressed.

    Then there’s sports…guys never shut up about the same old garbage.

    Number one reason for divorce…Lack of communication. !

    Not all chat is good but communication is necessary .

    This is probably the only time these two women have, out of their entire day, to speak with eachother. Only a woman would understand this.

    it’s because they’ve found someone who will listen (unlike their husband) and someone who will talk back to them on an intellectual level (unlike their 3yo)

    Some people love the sound of their own voice. Not every woman is like that.

    u put me and my friend together and we will talk and talk and talk and talk. We have alot in common and like one answerer said,maybe that is all the time they have in their entire day ,to visit with each other. Try sitting somewheres else? get an ipod, drown them out? That is what I would do, get and ipod and sit elsewhere.
